What Is Inside a WPC Door? How to Spot a Fake
Babeco · 2026
What WPC is
WPC means Wood Plastic Composite: wood powder blended with polymers and other components, pushed through a mould into a hollow profile with ribs inside. The result works like wood but does not absorb water.
A Babeco door, measured
- Leaf thickness: 4.5 cm.
- Internal ribs: 5 mm.
- Outer profile: 5 cm on the hinge side, 3 cm on the other side — all true WPC.
- Weight: leaf 25–27 kg, full door with frame and bar 43–45 kg.
- Height 215 cm; widths 80, 90 or 100 cm.
Five checks before you buy
- Ask to see a cut section. Real WPC shows the same material throughout, with no wood strip down the edges.
- Weigh it or ask for the weight. A leaf well above 30 kg is usually PVC or has thick, heavy ribs.
- Ask how the film is glued. Real WPC can be sanded before gluing.
- Ask who makes it. A factory you can visit is easier to hold to a warranty.
- Ask how the warranty is registered. A promise written on an invoice is hard to claim; ours is registered on the website.
